Best Routine For Your Skin Type
If you want to get the most out of your skin care routine, it’s vital that you understand your skin type first.
This means whether your skin is classed as oily, dry, normal or combination.
Finding out your skin type is the first step towards a skin care routine that works for you and makes you feel confident about your complexion!
How do you find out your skin type?
You may already know your skin type, but if not, there is a very simple way you can find out.
First, cleanse your face with a simple face wash, and gently pat it dry with a towel. Don’t apply any products (not even your 47 Skin serum!) and wait for 30 minutes. (the ideal time to get a few tasks done around the house, or paint your nails).
Then assess your skin with clean fingers and a mirror. If it feels/ looks:
- Shiny or greasy – you likely have oily skin
- Tight or flaky – you likely have dry skin
- Shiny along your t-zone but tight in other places – you likely have combination skin
- Hydrated and smooth – you likely have normal skin
Skin care routines for your skin type
Oily Skin
What does it look like?
Greasy/ shiny skin on most of your complexion. You are likely to get breakouts often and may have blackheads/clogged pores.
What routine do you recommend?
- Cleanse twice daily with our Anti-Blemish & Scar Repair Cleanser, and rinse thoroughly with warm water and a washcloth. You may want to use a foaming face wash as well before to help remove any grease.
- Apply Anti-Blemish & Scar Repair Serum to your face and neck. This will help prevent your pores clogging, remove bacteria and heal existing spots. It will also leave your skin hydrated enough, so there is no need to add moisturiser after.
- Use a face mask once or twice a week containing Salicylic acid to help remove dead skin cells and combat blemishes.
- Apply your 47 Skin Blue Clay Mask 2-3 times a week. This will detoxify, revitalise and brighten your complexion, drawing out impurities as it dries to help remove excess oil and prevent breakouts.
Dry Skin
What does it look like?
Your face may feel dry to the touch/ tight when you don’t have any products on. You may find that you get flaky patches or your skin dries out when you apply make-up.
What routine do you recommend?
- Cleanse twice daily with our Everyday Cleanser, and rinse thoroughly with warm water and a washcloth. Use the washcloth to gently buff away any flakes on dry patches.
- After drying your face, apply 3 drops of your Super Hydrating Elixir, twice a day. This contains HA, which will bring water to the surface of your skin, helping to intensely moisturise and leave skin soft and hydrated.
- Apply 47 Skin Regenerative Serum after your Elixir. This will help to heal and regenerate skin cells to hydrate and brighten your complexion.
- Finish by applying a thicker Moisturiser designed for dry skin or a night cream.
Combination Skin
What does it look like?
Shiny/ greasy around the nose area. Enlarged pores/ blackheads around the nose but not other areas. Tighter/dryer skin around the cheeks or jaw line.
What routine do you recommend?
- Cleanse twice daily with Anti-Blemish & Scar Repair Cleanser, and rinse thoroughly with warm water and a washcloth. You may want to double cleanse around your T-zone to ensure all grease/ dirt has been removed.
- Steam your face over a bowl of hot water once/ twice a week before cleansing to help open your pores and encourage them to unclog.
- Apply your Super Hydrating Elixir to any dryer parts of your face, such as your cheeks or under your eyes. This contains HA which will intensely moisturise your skin.
- Apply Anti-Blemish & Scar Repair Serum to your face and neck. This will help prevent your pores clogging, remove bacteria and heal any existing spots.
- Massage in your Anti-blemish & Scar Repair Moisturiser. This is oil free but still nourishes and moistures the skin, making it ideal for combination skin as it’s hydrating but won’t clog pores.
- Apply your Blue Clay Mask to your t-zone (or the greasier areas of your face) and your Silver Intensive Mask Treatment to your cheeks. Your blue clay mask will draw out impurities as it dries, while your Silver Intensive mask will help reduce inflammation and leave skin brighter and hydrated.
Normal Skin
What does it look like?
Your skin will be smooth and hydrated most of the time. You may get a few blemishes occasionally as well.
What routine do you recommend?
- Cleanse twice daily with Anti-Blemish & Scar Repair Cleanser, and rinse thoroughly with warm water and a washcloth.
- Apply Anti-Blemish & Scar Repair Serum to your face and neck. This will help prevent spots and leave skin brighter and hydrated.
- Follow with your Anti-blemish and Scar Repair Moisturiser. This is oil free so won’t clog pores but will also provide enough hydration to leave your skin soft and hydrated.
- You can also apply Super Hydrating Elixir if you feel like your skin needs some extra moisture and glow! We would recommend using 2 drops once a day for normal skin types.
- Apply your Silver Intensive Mask twice a week to help prevent any blemishes and leave skin hydrated and glowing.
As with all skin care routines, you may need to adapt it to fit your skin.
All complexions are unique, so don’t worry if your skin doesn’t fit exactly into these categories.
