Meet Bailey, a personal trainer living in London, who was always blessed with clear skin throughout her teens and early twenties.
Until last year, when everything changed...
She was suddenly struck by a severe outbreak of cystic, hormonal acne, all over her face.
"I had really painful spots that would take weeks to go away, and I couldn't really figure out why it was happening." So she went to visit her GP, and was referred to a Dermatologist.
She was put on a course of antibiotics and given retinoids to apply to her skin.
But instead of clearing her acne, it just made her skin worse...
"This created more problems as I ended up with blistered, flaking, dry skin and really bad side effects. This caused me to hide away. I stopped socialising and I didn't want to go out."
As a personal trainer, who often taught classes or had sessions with clients, it was very difficult, as she felt so ashamed and self-conscious about her skin.
Then one day, her mum sent her a bottle of 47 Skin's Anti-blemish & Scar Repair Serum, as a surprise, as she knew how much Bailey was suffering with her skin.
She stopped using the retinoids and decided to give it a go - at this point she felt willing to give anything a try.
"I started to apply the serum in the morning and the evening
and after a couple of days, I noticed I was seeing a massive reduction in the redness, the drying/ flaking skin and most of the scars."
So she invested in the Cleanser and Super Hydrating Elixir, and hasn't looked back since.
"Knowing I have a skin care routine that I know combats any spots that might come to the surface is just such a massive confidence boost!"
"Skin positivity to me is probably a bit different to what it means to everyone else.
For me, it's living a positive lifestyle and not putting too much stress on my body. It's taking care of myself and eating well.
When my life is positive, my skin reflects that.
It's also about knowing I will have good days and bad days, but it is just skin, and skin changes all the time, and that's ok."
