4. Avoid very hot baths and showers
Bathing in water that is too hot can actually damage your skin and dry it out. Turn the temperature down and your skin will thank you tomorrow!
5. Always apply SPF if you’re out in the Sun
In the Summer months, when your skin is on show, make sure you apply SPF not just to your face but other areas that catch the sun such as your shoulders and chest (remember sun damage causes wrinkles too).
6. Avoid harsh, unnaturally perfumed products (especially if your skin is sensitive)
Using harsh products on your skin can irritate it and lead to drying/ flaking. Dermatologist Debra Jaliman recommends that “You should look for moisturising ingredients like shea butter, ceramides, and plant oils like argan, safflower, avocado, and olive.”
7. Exfoliate regularly
Exfoliate the skin all over your body 1-2 times a week to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores and help your skin feel smoother and fresher. The easiest way to do this is with an exfoliating mitt or brush when you’re in the shower.
8. Don’t use too many products
Don’t overdo it with products on your body as this can irritate your skin. Stick to simple shower gels and body moisturisers.
9. Use an anti-bacterial wash on any blemish prone areas
Use a cleanser that kills bacteria such as our Everyday Cleanser. Follow it with our new Anti-blemish & Scar Repair Body Moisturiser (coming soon – sign up here to see it before anyone else!) This will give your skin the moisture it needs whilst killing bacteria and helping to fade scars. It also smells incredible!
10. Remember that your body is unique, not perfect!
Body confidence isn’t something that all of us have, but instead of trying to change your body to how you want it – try challenging any negative thoughts instead. Each body is beautiful in its own unique way and there is not just one way that it should look.
